Camp Yom Tov Information

Once again, Tiferes Yisroel will offer child care for Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur for infants and children up to 10 years old. We will not offer the junior counselor program this year. Enrollment in Camp Yom Tov is required for children under 8 who will be in shul and will not be directly supervised by an adult, and is available for children up to age 10. No child enrolled in Camp Yom Tov may sign him or herself out. Parents must supervise their children at all times if they are not enrolled in child care. Older children not enrolled in Camp Yom Tov may be asked to leave the social hall if their presence is found to diminish the staff’s capacity to keep Camp Yom Tov running smoothly and safely.

Although there will be toys and games at the shul, your child may want to bring some of his/her own special toys. Please send a dairy or pareve lunch and appropriate outdoor clothing, as well as any other needed items (e.g., a blanket and/or diaper bag). Be sure to mark all personal items clearly with your child’s name. Please remind your children to treat the staff and shul property with respect at all times.

Please do not send any peanut or tree nut products in your child’s lunch.

Please inform the staff of any behavioral or special physical needs of your child, especially allergies. The staff will make every effort to ensure that children stay in Camp Yom Tov. However, if a child refuses to stay, Camp Yom Tov staff will inform the parents, who will then need to take full responsibility for the supervision of their child. Likewise, any child who becomes ill or is in need of medication or first aid needs to be tended to by their parents or a designated older sibling. A parent or designated older sibling must be on shul property when their child is signed into Camp Yom Tov.

The total number of campers registered and paid for by Wednesday, September 21, will determine the number of paid child care providers. A late fee of $10 will be charged for any enrollments after this date. Payment should be made via the online registration system; use the registration form, below, which leads to the payment page.

The registration fee just barely covers the salaries of the childcare staff and the purchase of snacks for the children. There is no profit to the shul.

Camp Yom Tov Hours

  • Rosh Hashanah: 9:30 am until end of Musaf
  • Kol Nidrei: 10 minutes before Kol Nidrei until end of davening
  • Yom Kippur day: 9:30 am until end of Musaf

The total cost for all days of Camp Yom Tov is $80 for one camper, $100 for two, and $115 for 3 or more children. Any part-time arrangement will be billed at $8 per hour per child.

Rules

PLEASE speak with your children and remind them of the Camp Yom Tov rules:

  1. Campers must listen to the staff.

  2. To keep everyone safe, children must stay in the designated areas.

  3. Parents and siblings must communicate with the staff before leaving a child in camp or removing a child from camp.

Adult Volunteer Time

Each family who enrolls a child in Camp Yom Tov is required to donate one hour of time for general assistance to the staff and strongly requested to donate two hours. Other shul members may fill in for you by prior arrangement. The parent volunteer’s primary and very important responsibility is to watch both doors to ensure that no campers enter or leave without being signed in or out by an approved adult. The volunteer schedule will be posted by the entrance to the women’s section.

Please indicate your preferred times on the registration form. Options are: Rosh Hashana 1st day or 2nd day 9:30-10:30, 10:30-11:30, 11:30-12:30, 12:30-1:30, Kol Nidrei 6:30-7:30, 7:30-8:30, Yom Kippur Day 9:30-10:30, 10:30-11:30, 11:30-12:30, 12:30-1:30, 1:30-2:30, Ne’ilah* 5:45-6:45, 6:45-7:45.
